In this collaborative exhibit, we, Leah Allison and Rosetta Mitchell, unite our talents to craft a mesmerizing array of light fixtures. Each piece is a confectionery-inspired creation, with vibrant colors and playful forms reminiscent of your favorite sweets. From ice cream pendants to gummy bear sconces, indulge your senses as you explore this delectable fusion of art and illumination.
Our work seeks to evoke joy and nostalgia, transforming everyday lighting into delightful sculptures that captivate and enchant. Through our artistic partnership, we blend our unique approaches to materials and design, creating pieces that not only light up a room but also bring a smile to your face. Artist Bios:
Rosetta Mitchell is a dedicated nurse and an avid crafter based in Revelstoke, BC. Having explored various art forms throughout her life, she discovered her passion for ceramics after taking a beginner’s pottery course at the local Potters Guild in 2016. Rosetta is deeply committed to creating pieces that foster connection, whether they are functional everyday items or unique artistic projects. She finds inspiration in the idea of infusing stories into her work and the potential for her creations to become meaningful parts of others’ lives. Joining Leah for this exhibition represents Rosetta’s proudest artistic achievement. Collaborating with a friend and pushing her creative boundaries has been an incredibly rewarding journey.
Leah Allison is the owner and head glass blower at Big Eddy Glass Works. She has been working with glass for over 18 years and in 2018 she opened her own studio here in Revelstoke, B.C., Canada. She fell in love with the art of glass blowing her very first time trying it out and absolutely knew it was what she was going to do for the rest of her life.
