Excerpt from the Artist Statement:
“I started having some ideas floating about for “Incongruity” from a translated quote I heard from a while back by writer Kōtarō Isaka – “Unique animals are being protected; unique people are being isolated.”
This quote speaks to how humans are complex and contrasting beings, just like the world we are living in, yet most react to uniqueness with avoidance. Although what I’d like to deliver is not the idea that we should ‘protect’ uniqueness, with the “Incongruity” collection I wish to provoke thoughts of solitude, contrast, yet serenity and embracement within.”
