Final Day of August Exhibition

Today is the final day to see Augusts exhibition here at the Revelstoke visual arts centre. Don’t miss Janna Yotte’s main gallery exhibition Exuvie. Janna Yotte is one of our featured artists coming to us from Quebec. Originally a photographer and graphic designer, Janna turned towards contemporary art in 2017 after completing her first self taught series of collage. Cutting into publications of all kinds, she’s assembled more than a hundred works, which quickly captured attention with their neat aesthetics and intriguing contrast. Her work has been exhibited in Montreal, New-York, Maastrich and Toronto.

Meanwhile the side galleries are filled with the works of over 30 local artists in a brand new theme, “Pantone Color of the Year”. The prompt for this member show came from the 2022 PANTONE® Colour of the Year, ‘Very Peri.’

PANTONE® is the Universal Language of Colour for Designers, Brands, & Manufacturers. Every year they release their colour of the year that they think will exude the essence of what the year has to come. This perwinkle colour has tones that toe the line between purple and blue.

With a colour as the prompt it leaves the subject of choice up to the artist, challenging them with a colour they may or may not use often. Did the artist use the colour as a focal point or is it a slight highlight used to emphasize the work?
