Stories of the Forest

June 2022 in our Main Gallery…

… We will be featuring an exhibition and book for the project ‘Stories of the Forest,’ an interpretive display of the many different voices that resonate within our surrounding forests.

“The forests around us have stories to tell to those who can read the signs. This art exhibition & book project reveals new ways of seeing & being in the interior temperate rainforests around Revelstoke. In this project, 20 Indigenous knowledge keepers & local forest experts share their insights into one place in the forest, teaching us how to ‘read’ the natural world around us & encouraging us to think about our place within it. Storytellers & landscapes are photographed by award-winning photographer Rob Buchanan & illustrated by Claire Sieber, using inks made from the forest. The project is coordinated by writer Laura Stovel & ethnobotanist Christy Shaw.” – Laura Stovel, Project lead
